30 Aug – 1 Sept 2024. Moseley Park, Birmingham.

ACCESSIBILITY

We want Moseley Folk & Arts Festival to be enjoyable for everyone, which we hope is covered in our new Access & Disability policy. We hope this can put a lot of minds at ease for those to whom this policy applies. We recommend reading the full details thoroughly before purchasing a ticket.

If after reading you still have a question that has not been answered by this document, please feel free to email your query to info@theticketsellers.co.uk. We’re also open to hearing about further improvements and anything we can do to make your weekend more enjoyable.

2-FOR-1 TICKET SCHEME

A Personal Assistant wristband is available free of charge if you are a disabled adult (aged 18+) who requires assistance to access the festival. You will need to buy your ticket as normal and email us proof of purchase: for example, a copy of the E-Ticket. You will also need to supply a photocopy of some form of an in-date photo ID and proof of eligibility. The following pieces of evidence are accepted:

A confirmation letter showing receipt of the care component of PIP or DLA dated within the last 12 months. If you have previously received this but have since had your application rejected or not renewed, please contact us as we can accept older evidence on a case-by-case basis.

A confirmation letter showing receipt of Attendance Allowance within the last 12 months.

A confirmation letter showing receipt of Employment and Support Allowance dated within the last 12 months.

Evidence that you are registered severely sight impaired (blind).

Recognised Assistance Dog ID card if you are wishing to bring a guide dog with you.

Please send your proof of purchase, proof of eligibility and photo ID to info@theticketsellers.co.uk. The name must be the same on all parts of the application. We will review applications without the listed evidence on a case-by-case basis. However, please note that temporary injuries, illnesses and pregnancy do not qualify under the PA scheme.

The applications for Personal Assistance tickets are limited to one per person and are not issued in advance. If your application is successful, we will confirm this with you via email. You will need to bring your proof of eligibility, your ticket, some photo ID and our confirmation email with you to the festival in order for your PA to be issued with a wristband. The name of your E-Ticket must match the name on your proof of eligibility and the name on your photo ID.

Children aged 12-17 who are disabled can come free of charge as long as they also bring proof of eligibility with them to the festival and enter with a full-paying adult aged 21+. There is no scheme in place for disabled children aged 11 and under as they are already permitted to enter the festival free of charge.

Important festival site access and distances

As a small site, Moseley Park & Pool in Birmingham is the perfect place for a festival. A festival in Birmingham’s urban suburb, Moseley, the park slopes downwards from the top of the arena towards the stages at the bottom, providing a natural amphitheatre. The terrain is mostly grass and gravel but can be slightly uneven in places. As the site is mostly grass, it can become muddy in wet conditions and dusty in hot temperatures. Getting into the festival there is a loose dirt/gravel path leading from the entrance, which runs straight through the right-hand side of the arena. This path can be uneven in parts so please be cautious.

DISTANCES

From the entrance to the top of the arena: 160m
Top of the arena to Main Stage: 75m
Top of the arena to Food Stalls: 65m
Main Stage to Accessible Toilets: 150m
Food Stalls to Accessible Toilets: 95m
Entrance to Viewing Platform: 210m
Viewing Platform to Accessible Toilets: 90m

GRADIENTS

The festival has 4 main areas – the Entrance where you will get your tickets checked and given your wristbands, the Main Arena where you will find our main and second stages as well as our traders, the food area which is to the right-hand side of the Main Arena and Off Piste where our extra entertainment takes place.

The Entrance is the highest point of the festival. The ground then slopes down from the top of the Main Arena towards the main and second stages. The food area located on the right-hand side of the main arena also slopes slightly towards the bottom of the park. The arena then levels out at the bottom of the park and curves around to the right and up to Off Piste. This can be accessed via a concrete path followed by steps. There is an alternative entrance if you are unable to use the steps, but please be aware that this is a grassy incline.

TRAVEL

Please be aware that there is no allocated festival parking as it takes place in a busy suburban village and no spaces are available for us to utilise.

There is limited on-street parking surrounding the festival site, however, we do encourage you to use other available parking or means of travel in order to reduce the disruption to local residents. Here are what we believe to be the best options for travel and parking:

Parking:

The Moseley Village Car Park is a Pay & Display car park, which is a 5-minute walk away from the festival entrance. Although this is a Pay & Display car park, you can park for free with no time limits if you display your Blue Badge. For more information on this car park, please see here. We also recommend searching for parking in nearby Kings Heath or Balsall Heath and then using public transport to get to the festival entrance.

Public Transport:

The No. 50 bus from Birmingham City centre stops opposite the festival entrance. It takes approximately 15 minutes depending on traffic and runs all day – every 10 minutes, slightly less frequently on a Sunday – until just before midnight. The No. 50 bus also runs through Kings Heath and Balsall Heath so it is easy to get on board once you’ve found somewhere to park your car if you plan on driving to the festival. If you are catching No. 50 from Kings Heath, you will need to get the bus going TOWARDS the city centre. If you are catching No. 50 from Balsall Heath you will need to get the bus going AWAY from the city centre (TOWARDS DRUIDS HEATH).

Taxi:

If you are unable to use public transport or cannot do the walk from where you have parked your car, we recommend booking a taxi service. Taxis are able to drop you virtually outside the festival entrance, opposite the Co-Op on Alcester Road. We definitely recommend booking a taxi service in advance, particularly for your journey home or to your car after the festival ends, as it is likely to be busy.

FACILITIES

Accessible Toilets:

We do have an accessible toilet available to our guests who require access to one. Access to these toilets will only be available to guests who collect a disabled wristband from the main entrance when getting tickets scanned. In order to get a wristband, you must show proof of disability. The accepted pieces of evidence are listed in the 2 For 1 Ticket Scheme section of this document. The toilets are locked so you will also be given a code to be able to unlock the door. We can write this code on your wristband.

Viewing Area:

There is a disabled viewing area exclusively for our disabled guests, located towards the top of the slope. Space in this area is provided on a first come first served basis and does not need to be booked in advance. This area is only available to disabled guests and 1 nominated personal assistant plus any dependent children who do not have any other guardians who can look after them at the festival. This is to ensure that there is enough room for all guests with accessibility issues who wish to use it. Just as with the Accessible Toilet, you will need to have a disabled wristband to gain access to this viewing platform. Your Personal Assistant does not need one, but can only access the platform when they are with you. If you leave, they must leave also.

The site slopes gently towards the stage, amphitheatre style, which makes viewing from most areas very clear. This means that if you do not wish to use the viewing area or cannot use it for some reason, there will be plenty of other areas with great views of the stages. The front half of the arena is for those wanting to sit on the floor or stand. The use of camping chairs and seating is strictly limited to the rear half – this section is clearly marked. We recommend arriving early to secure the best position, particularly if you are in a group. There is no seating provided at the festival so please bring your own.

Medication:

We know that in some cases, you may need to bring along your medication to the festival. If you are worried about carrying this medication on your person during the festival, we are happy to store it for you in our office at the entrance where you can collect it as and when needed. This facility is available on a case-by-case basis, as we have limited space. So, if you wish to store your medication with us, please email us in advance to see if this would be possible (accessibility@mostlyjazz.co.uk). Please note that we cannot accept any responsibility for any lost or damaged medication that is left in our office. Although this is a safe space, accountability still lies with the owner of the medication.

First Aid:

First aiders are situated 60m from the viewing area at the Tennis Clubhouse throughout the duration of the festival for any medical emergencies. If you do have any medical emergencies, you can go straight to where they are situated, or grab a member of staff who is wearing a radio who can contact the team directly to assist you.

Please note that you do not have to apply in advance to use the toilets or the viewing platform. We just require that you bring proof of disability to the festival in order to collect a disabled wristband, which will allow you to gain access to these facilities. If you do not have the correct piece/s of evidence (see list in the 2 For 1 Ticket Scheme section of this document), but believe you will need access to the toilets or viewing platform, please email the evidence you do have in advance of the festival and we will review this on a case-by-case basis and tell you if you will be able to collect a disabled wristband.
